Board of Directors


Executive

 

Grace Vaccarelli, President of the Board of Directors, lives in the community and volunteers with DPNC because she is interested in seeing a community with vitality where everyone can equally participate. Grace works as a lawyer in a non-profit organization.

 

Leo Smits, Associate Member, is Treasurer of DPNC. His interest in community development has led him to volunteer with a number of non-profit agencies in the City. He is currently Program Head, Family and Community Social Service Program at the University of Guelph-Humber.

 

 


Members

 

Antonio Alves has lived in the neighbourhood for two years and is very pleased to serve the Davenport community as a Davenport-Perth Community Church Representative Member of the Board. Antonio attends Ryerson University’s Ted Rogers School of ITM for Telecommunications and Networking Management, and works part-time in technical support.

 

Ayderus Alawi, Associate Member, was a volunteer and employee in DPNC’s Youth Department for more than six years. Currently, he attends law school and is the co-founder and Executive Director of Beyond the Lyrics Youth Resource Centre, a youth-led, grassroots organization that supports youth by addressing access issues.

 

Gina Drakoulakos-Novielli is a Community Member who has lived in the neighbourhood for more than eleven years. She has been a program participant for a number of years and sits on the Board’s Development Committee.

 

Grant Gonzales, Community Member, studies political science at the University of Toronto. He has served on the University’s Governing Council and for three summers Grant has interned with the Provincial Minister of Finance. He has also volunteered at St. Luigi Catholic School.

 

Gabe Oladepo has lived and worked in the neighbourhood for many years and is a Davenport-Perth Community Church representative on the Board. He and his wife, Hannah, run a small business in the community.

 

Colette Murphy was elected to the Board in 2006 and serves as Chair of the Board Development Committee. She is the Community Program Director at the Metcalf Foundation.

 

Jacqueline Nuwame, Community Member, was elected to the DPNC Board in 2009. In addition to her award-winning portfolio of work that spans both television and multimedia, Jacqueline teaches at the Media Lab at the Canadian Film Centre. Currently, her company Eventide Media is involved in the development of three documentaries.

 

Allison Pedley, Community Member, has been a neighbourhood resident for more than 25 years, and was elected in June 2009 as a Neighbourhood Representative member to the Board. Allison works at Sunnybrook Hospital in the information technology and strategy area.

 

Barney Savage, Associate Member, was elected in 2007 and serves on the Board Development Committee. He is the Director of Public Policy at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).

 

Askin Taner, Community Member, came to Toronto from Turkey for his graduate studies and has made Canada his second home. He has lived in our community with his family since 2001 and works in the Ontario Public Service as a Policy Advisory.

 

Giselle Wiazek is a Community Board Member and Chair of the Social Action Committee. She volunteers in the community as a social advocate and Human Resources Consultant. She is employed by the Provincial Government with the Ontario Disability Support Program.

 

Karen Williams is a United Church representative and Secretary of the Board. She lives in the neighbourhood, sits on the Social Action committee and, in her role as the Community Minister of the United Church of Canada, is involved in social and economic justice initiatives with residents of this neighbourhood.
